Everest Base Camp & Kalapther Trekking. Everest Base Camp is one of the best trekking destinations in the world. Solukhumbu is justifiably famous, not only for the world’s highest mountain, but for its Sherpa villages and monasteries. The main goal of an Everest trek is Base Camp at an elevation of about 5340m. But you cannot see Everest from the Base Camp, though you will enjoy the view of the beautiful, and dangerous, Khumbu icefall, so trekkers must climb Kala Pattar a 5545m hump on the southern flank of Pumori (7145m) from where there is dramatic view of Everest, the Western Cwm and Lhotse Face.
Fly in by plane to Lukla or Drive to Jiri and walk to the Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar , the monastery at Tengpoche and on to Everest Base Camp. It is important to allow enough time on this trek for acclimatization.
